Twitter is going to discontinue Vine, a smartphone app that first introduced the trend of the mini-video coined the terms as well. According to the social media tech giant, older vines will be kept only but the ability to create new vines will be disabled in the coming months.
Vine was founded back in June 2012 by Rus Yusupov, who sold the company to Twitter later that year. The founder has also shown deep regret at the decision but it was something Twitter had coming because if its financial crisis.

Twitter first shared the announcement in a tweet link to its official blog on Medium. The blog also explained that the changed will not take place right away, and viners have a few months to realign their interest. Previous vines will not be deleted and website will remain online.
On its Peak, Vine boasted up to 1.5B views/day. However, in the recent years, platform’s popularity had decreased despite Twitter’s effort to save it and integrate it into the mainstream Twitter app.
Twitter stocks were reported to have suffered a 25% decline in value, forcing the company to use Periscope is an alternate to Vine. Users have strongly criticized the decision while more developments are in the making.
