Bugatti Chiron things you din't know

After Bugatti Veyron left the racing arena undefeated with the top speed record of 268-mph, the next generation car, the Chiron is almost here to take the lead. Bugatti Chiron has been around the gossip for quite a while now and honestly the hypercar is still an unchartered arena because the world still has to see the best of it. So today, we are rounding off some amazing things you didn’t know about the upcoming Speedmaster.

Most Powerful Sports Car Ever!

Bugatti Chiron drew the nail of its supremacy when the automaker announced that the supercar will be packing 1,500 horsepower. And it did. To clarify the horsepower, that is like fifteen hundred horses pulling the driver. Now you may have heard of other cars that claim to boast higher horsepower, but those are all prototypes or future inspirations. No other production car is currently bragging such specs.

The 2017 Bugatti Chiron cherishes a quad turbocharged 8.0-L W16 engine that is able to produce 1,500-hp and 1180-lb-ft of torque that is delivered to all of its wheels via 7-speed automatic transmission system. This engine’s rage is enough to accelerate the car to 62-mph in less than 2.5 seconds before hitting off the maximum (claimed) speed of 261-mph.

But you should keep in mind that the 261-mph isn’t the final speed limit, besides the monster hasn’t even landed yet. The drivetrain of the car will evolve over the years and is expected to surpass the 280-mph milestone.

The Chiron takes a lot of time to Build than any other Car

The Bugatti Chiron takes 5 months to build! That is because every component has to be carefully manufactured and analyzed. At the high speeds of 250+ miles per hour, you cannot afford to have even a minor aberration in the vehicle’s machinery. It would otherwise mean disaster.

Apart from procedural difficulties, the components of the Chiron aren’t easy to make either. Different components are not made at the same place and body parts of the supercar take 3 months before they reach the assembly lines in Molsheim, then 60 more days to put things together.

For example, the manufacture of its 16-cylinder engine takes 7 days alone and its glossy carbon fiber body may be super strong, but it is also super-difficult to make. The company didn’t want to compromise the quality just due to fear of complexity. The rear light bar of the car and deck lid were made from single piece of metal.

Achieving the glossy metallic out of a carbon frame was also a challenge in itself. The bodywork is painted with 3 layers of Clearcoat, but only one is tinted and other two just render the refractive properties that give it looks to beat the metal. The problem is all the layers had to be coated at the same time. How they did it is still Bugatti’s big secret.

In short, even after you pay 2.6$ million, the ridiculous sum of money can’t make the factory speed up.

Bugatti had to make a new Dyno just for the Chiron

The traditional tools and strategies just weren’t enough to shove the Chiron through the testing tunnels. The inventory of tools that makes the hypercar had to be replaced after every 50th use. Likewise, the traditional dynamometer (dyno) or rolling road weren’t just sufficient to take the beating of its road rage. The automobile manufacturer had to design a custom dyno so it won’t break off under the Chiron’s wheels. The old one could only handle 12-hp.

More facts that you didn’t know about Bugatti Chiron

  • Bugatti Chiron predecessor, the Veyron, broke the speed record as the fastest production car in 2005 (Guinness’s record) which no other sports car has dared to break even 10 years later. Bugatti Veyron produced a total 450 cars and the production ceased when the final car was sold in 2015.
  • It takes 5 months to build a Chiron and that is how much the buyer has to wait after the order is placed. That is unless you are Prince of Saudi Arabia, because, then you could pay $5 million dollars for the very first concept Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo and the concept Bugatti Chiron at the same time.

  • Bugatti Chiron’s being a hybrid was a possible consideration, but after the company talked to its potential customers, it changed its mind. Although the hybrid drivetrain is also high performing, the customers wanted a more traditional drivetrain for unmatched performance.
  • As mentioned before, the Chiron, except its drivetrain, is anything but traditional. That’s why unlike a traditional sportscar, the super beast at 1,995-kilograms (4,440 pounds) is a little overweight for its reputation of speed.
  • The latest Bugatti hypercar is completely drift-savvy. So much so that you don’t have to employ, you said it, the traditional technique to induce the drift. Just hitting the accelerator can bolt you into drifting on the road.

The Bugatti Chiron is the next generation wonder car which hasn’t arrived yet. The automaker is making sure it’s completely road-ready and attracts enough buyers to meet the success of Bugatti Veyron.
