All you need to remove a battery from iPhone 4 is a screw driver (5-Point Pent lobe) of the following dimensions 3.6 mm, 2.5 mm and also a Spudger tool to pry the battery.

Step 1 – Switch off your iPhone and then remove 2 screws of 3.6 mm Pentalobe, on either side of the dock connector port.

Step 2 –  After removing the 2 screws, gently slide up the back plate with your thumbs sliding it upwards and then now lift off the back plate and set it aside when the panel will moves upwards about 2 mm.

Step 3 – remove the two screws holding the battery in place on the left side of the battery.

Step 4 – Use a Spudger tool to gently pry the battery connector up from its socket on the logic board and then remove the metal clip covering the antenna connector.
