Robotic Wingmen Built to Fly Aside Fighter Planes in the Pipeline by the Pentagon

The Pentagon is in the process of developing a collection of drones capable of flying side by side fighter jets at very high speeds. Two categories of this drones designed to be wingmen of fighter jets have been made public. These drones use artificial intelligence technology and are deployed to monitor the plane’s movements.

There have been findings by professionals that say that the drones’ speed enables them to fly side by side the Jets. The Pentagon may soon release a platoon of these artificial intelligence controlled drones noted to be fast and dynamic. Although these drones are still in the initial testing phases, they could someday turn out to be deployed in supporting the protection of humans by receiving the effect of an airborne attack. Reports have it that the Pentagon might soon make use of these drones.

The first of them known as the UTAP-22 Mako is a quite fast streamlined drone that could deliver a combination of deadly weapons and has capabilities to move at speeds of up to 1,100km/hour according to its creators. The second is a 30ftlong UAV named XQ-222 Valkyrie is said to have a range of about 4,000 miles and a high speed of 650 miles/hour.

Professionals say that the pace of this drone enables it to fly aside the F-35 fighter jets. Drone maker Kratos Defence and Security solutions made known the information that the two new fighter drones are almost ready this week. The systems are able to carry out their functions on their own without being controlled, in tests to ascertain their functionality, a pilot accompanies it to monitor their progress.

However, in a bid to take advantage of the functions of the drones, you might need to possess an ability to take advantage of it. The use of these drones may help to secure the lives of people by acting as the first line of defense. Furthermore, they are proposed to cost lower than human controlled crafts at a price of about 2 million to 3 million dollars.

This move is a product of the American Army’s continued effort to create robots that could define the future. Efforts such as this are also being carried out by the Navy, which is also pumping money into unmanned submarines that monitor the floor of the ocean and help locate mines.
