These two new exotic drones are not your typical quadcopters; say hello to Parrot’s Disco drone and PowerEgg. As the names suggest, one somewhat looks like a parrot (cause it has wings) while the other literally looks like an egg, until panels come out and it takes off into the air.
Parrot’s Disco Drone
Previewed during CES 2016, the Parrot is finally releasing its winged Disco drone to the customers. What makes it stand apart is that it is a true drone, not a quadcopter and can hit a maximum speed of 50 mph and can maintain the flight for 45 minutes. Additional sensors comprise an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer, Pitot, GPS, and a 14-megapixel wide-angle lens with digital stabilization, and the Control Hub & Universal Computer Kit. The kit is responsible for autonomous flight until the user takes over via controller or a smartphone. At $1,299, Disco is costly but it is distinguishable.

PowerVision’s PowerEgg
We don’t know when pigs will fly, but we know that eggs surely will. The PowerEgg by PowerVision, a Chinese company, is the beautifully-crafted drone that you can preorder now for $1,288. Tempting features include a 4K camera with 360˚ video capability and a 6,400-mAh battery that keeps is in the flight for 23 minutes.
While Disco drone has been demonstrated, PowerEgg is still a concept and we have to see a working model of the exotic drone.
